Upward Mobility
Upward Mobility Virtual Workshops
Body

Our new online workshop series is designed to support local leaders with resources, tools, and guidance to increase upward mobility and racial equity for people and communities.

In this series, participants will learn about the core principles of the Upward Mobility Framework and how to apply it in their communities to close equity gaps and foster economic success, dignity and belonging, and power and autonomy for all. These workshops offer a learning experience where attendees can engage in interactive discussions, explore real-world case studies, and develop practical skills for creating positive change in their communities.

Key Components of the Upward Mobility Framework:

  • Three-part definition. The framework recognizes that true upward mobility encompasses economic success, dignity and belonging, and power and autonomy and includes an understanding of how racism affects social and economic mobility.
  • Five pillars. Local communities focus on building or bolstering essential pillars, such as opportunity-rich neighborhoods, high-quality education, rewarding work, healthy environments, and responsive governance.
  • Mobility metrics. Evidence-based metrics enable communities to assess current conditions, set priorities, and monitor progress toward upward mobility and racial equity.
  • Planning Guide for Local Action. Practical guidance demonstrates how to apply the framework and mobility metrics to effect meaningful change within communities.

Whether you’re a policymaker, advocate, researcher, or local leader, this series provides an opportunity to connect with peers and gain actionable insights for communities.
