The Urban Institute conducts quantitative and qualitative research using rigorous, effective methods and data analytics. Research designs, data collection, and data analyses draw from classical and cutting-edge methodologies. Big data analytics, microsimulation models, complex sample surveys, randomized control trials, and sophisticated statistical modeling all feature prominently in Urban’s methodological toolbox. Qualitative research designs, data collections, and analyses are also well represented in our portfolio, as are community engagement methods, which play an increasing role in Urban research projects.
