Past discriminatory policies that segregated certain groups into specific occupations have contributed to today’s pay inequities between men and women and between white and Black and Latinx workers.  They have also resulted in fewer people of color working in higher-wage careers. Urban examines how occupational segregation limits workers’ economic mobility and security and offers solutions for creating more equitable, inclusive job opportunities.
