Courts and sentencing
Sentencing practices, particularly those resulting in incarceration, disproportionately affect people of color, especially Black men. Urban researchers dissect the policy implications of racial inequities in sentencing and examine the efficacy of alternatives to incarceration such as specialty courts, including drug treatment and mental health courts.
