Land use and zoning
Land use and zoning regulations shape our physical environment and affect who has access to quality housing, jobs, schools, and neighborhood amenities. Urban’s researchers analyze local laws and policies to understand how they affect housing costs, access to jobs and economic opportunities, climate mitigation and adaptation, racial equity, and other topics. We also examine how state and federal policies interact with local zoning to lift exclusionary barriers and unleash housing supply.
