Over the past five years, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) has dedicated unprecedented funding to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure. Now, Congress is considering its policy priorities for the next transportation funding package. To better explore whether IIJA funding has been distributed to the communities that need it most, the Urban Institute created the Federal Infrastructure Funding Tracker. This interactive data tool analyzes funding from dozens of federal infrastructure programs to every state, county, and metro area in the United States.
We invite you to join the Urban Institute for a virtual event exploring whether recent federal infrastructure funding has helped close critical gaps in transportation access, where more resources are needed, and how they can be distributed to best meet local needs. Urban Institute researchers will share findings from their analysis of public transit funding distributions and walk through how to explore other types of infrastructure funding in the Federal Infrastructure Funding Tracker. Then, leaders from local transit agencies will share how federal funding helps them serve riders, and national experts will discuss how the next transportation reauthorization could address needs across the country.
