Rochisha Shukla is a senior research associate with the Justice and Safety Division at the Urban Institute, where her research focuses on correctional policy, judicial decisionmaking, and community reentry. Her recent work delves into such topics as institutional safety, correctional technology, state and federal justice statistics, and the nexus between housing instability and criminal legal system involvement. Shukla has extensive experience designing and managing program and policy evaluations, conducting mixed-methods analyses, building action-research partnerships, and delivering training and technical assistance to correctional practitioners. Her research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, including the Prison Journal, Criminal Justice Policy Review, and Corrections: Policy, Practice & Research.
Shukla holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in psychology from the University of Delhi, India; a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Delhi, India; and a master’s degree in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Maryland, College Park.
