Housing is fundamental to our everyday experience, access to resources, and life outcomes. I aim to help connect housing to other sectors to help improve access to affordable, quality housing.
Katie Fallon is a principal policy associate in the Research to Action Lab at the Urban Institute. She uses qualitative, quantitative, and spatial methods to analyze issues related to housing affordability, stability, and supply. She focuses on how various approaches to housing development, property management, and local housing policies can be leveraged to produce and maintain high-quality affordable housing for both renters and homeowners.
Before joining Urban, Fallon was director of housing policy at the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, where she led data and research to support homeowner stability, homelessness, and affordable housing programs. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Princeton University and a doctoral degree in sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Urban experts are permitted and empowered to work and affiliate with outside organizations, whether serving on boards, volunteering their time, or providing advice and counsel. And Urban welcomes visiting scholars, nonresident or affiliated fellows who work for other organizations. These outside affiliations enrich our perspectives and our learning environment. We also require all paid and unpaid experts to disclose their affiliations to Urban leadership and follow rules governing their engagement to ensure transparency for audiences and independence of experts.
