Public Comment Urban Institute Response to Treasury Department RFI on Financial Inclusion

In response to a request for information from the US Department of the Treasury, Urban experts prepared this comment letter to guide the department’s development of a national financial inclusion strategy. The authors propose a holistic framework for measuring financial inclusion, highlight historic and ongoing barriers to financial inclusion, offer suggestions for measuring and tracking financial inclusion, and recommend evidence-based solutions to enhance financial inclusion for underserved communities. The authors applaud the Treasury Department’s commitment to advancing a national financial inclusion strategy and look forward to supporting the department’s important work.
