In response to a notice of proposed rulemaking by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on the 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, Urban Institute and outside experts provided input on several provisions of the proposed rule, including those related to the methodology for establishing work relative value units, the proposed efficiency adjustment, and strategies for improving global surgery payment accuracy.
