This brief highlights how four community colleges in the Advancing Community Equity and Upward Mobility (ACE-UP) Community of Practice use data and metrics to identify equity gaps and develop strategies to improve outcomes for students.

College staff track data to measure progress toward equity goals and understand student utilization of career and supportive services. Disaggregated data broken up into subgroups like race, gender, or level of education can help colleges identify disparities in outcomes and strategize improvements. College staff also identified challenges they have faced in their data-collection and analysis efforts, including a lack of information on postgraduation outcomes. One way to better understand student success is by expanding data-collection methods, such as gathering feedback from students.
