Housing Finance at a Glance is a monthly reference guide for mortgage and housing market data. It includes over 80 curated and updated figures describing current trends in the US housing finance market, including housing affordability, credit availability, serious delinquency rates, and mortgage insurance activity. 

These trends stood out most to housing finance policy researchers from this chartbook edition:

  • Between 2021 and 2025, the Portfolio share of securitized first-lien originations has increased from 21.8 percent to 30.6 percent (p. 8)
  • Over the same period, the PLS Securitization share has increased from 2.4 percent to 6.0 percent (p. 8)
  • The non-agency securitization share of residential MBS has increased to 12.6 percent, its highest level since the Great Recession (p.14)
  • To date in 2026, agency net issuance is negative (p. 35)
