Young people in registered apprenticeship programs earn money while they learn and develop skills for a rewarding career. This fact sheet outlines an additional benefit for some youth apprentices, called dual enrollment, in which apprentices complete their high school courses and earn college credit classes simultaneously. Further descriptions of dual enrollment, educational structures, and apprenticeship best practices are explained. Success stories of dual enrollment structures in Kentucky and South Carolina illuminate valuable lessons for schools and policymakers working to develop dual enrollment opportunities for high school students and youth apprentices.
