In 2024, Central Louisiana had 1,747 nonprofits, including 1,095 501(c)(3) organizations, registered with the US Internal Revenue Service and 674 congregations. These organizations serve the needs of the region’s 345,273 residents—20 percent of whom are children (14 and younger), 28 percent of whom are seniors (55 and older), and 20 percent of whom live in poverty (with 25 percent of children living in poverty). This research, prepared for The Rapides Foundation, provides an overview of the nonprofits and congregations in Central Louisiana and each of its nine parishes: Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon, and Winn. It provides information on nonprofits and congregations, including their numbers, finances, fiscal health, types of services, and sources of revenue. It also offers basic demographic information about Central Louisiana and its parishes, such as household income, age, and race/ethnicity.
