Brief Career Services Strategies to Advance Equity

This brief highlights how four community colleges in the Advancing Community Equity and Upward Mobility (ACE-UP) Community of Practice are enhancing their career services to better support students’ academic and career pathways.

College staff described career services as important for providing exposure to career options and strengthening students’ job readiness. For underrepresented students, these services were seen as particularly helpful. By developing strategies designed to meet the needs of underrepresented students, college staff aimed to help students persist through their academic programs into careers or further education. The brief also includes insights about challenges faced and opportunities to improve career service delivery, including providing professional development resources to staff and expanding institutional capacity to support career development opportunities.
