This fact sheet focuses on preliminary outcomes six months after the start of the Austin Guaranteed Income Pilot. It draws on data from baseline and six-month surveys, as well as from interviews with participants. Almost all the outcomes reported are based on early survey data and are combined with qualitative data to tentatively infer a few preliminary findings. Our upcoming interim and final findings may shed additional light on trends or patterns that are still emerging or subject to redirection.
- At six months, pilot participants were more stably housed and less likely to be concerned about eviction.
- Overall employment trends remained relatively stable six months into the pilot. There appear to be slight reductions in full-time work alongside a few modest increases in part-time work among pilot participants. By combining these quantitative data with qualitative insights, we can infer that some participants may be reallocating hours toward improving their long-term financial and household stability. Increases in student enrollment and care work further support this inference.
- Pilot participant households experienced improvements in their mental health and food security.
