The Urban Institute researches the intersection between individual and public finance through rigorous data analysis of housing finance, state and local spending, community development, and income and benefits to help decisionmakers support equitable policy. We evaluate how individuals build wealth and interact with financial systems as well as the effectiveness of policies designed to help them. Our work also analyzes economic development finance to help communities invest and spend money wisely.
