How can Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs better support family economic well-being and self-sufficiency?
The TANF Policy Research and Analyses (TPRA) Project helps answer this question by synthesizing evidence, engaging stakeholders, and producing practical, evidence-based resources to inform TANF policy, practice, and future research.
TPRA identifies priority policy and research questions, develops approaches for studying them, and translates findings into accessible resources for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and other stakeholders. By engaging with federal, state, and local partners; service providers; community-based organizations; and TANF participants, the project helps identify evidence gaps and opportunities to strengthen outcomes for children and families with low incomes.
This project was launched in 2023 by the Urban Institute, The Adjacent Possible, and MEF Associates, in partnership with the Administration for Children and Families.
