Employment in the US energy sector grew three percent in 2023, outpacing overall national job growth by 50 percent, according to the Department of Energy. Expanding the energy sector in the United States requires information technology (IT) workers to tackle challenges like using data analytics to maintain grid stability, writing software to manage the smart grid and guide energy storage, and implementing cybersecurity measures to safeguard the national energy supply and distribution.
The Power IT project addresses these needs by building a skilled IT workforce ready for the demands of the energy sector in Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, and North Carolina. This initiative connects individuals in IT to career opportunities through free job training, including pre-apprenticeships and Registered Apprenticeship Programs, tailored to energy and related sectors.
