Reimagining Policing and Engaging the Community to Improve Public Safety

Seasoned With Grace UnBoxed (UnBoxed) is a nonprofit organization based in Denver that focuses on improving quality of life for individuals and families impacted by systemic injustice resulting from overpolicing and mass incarceration. UnBoxed coordinates the Denver Task Force to Reimagine Policing and Public Safety to identify the best ideas and practices for developing a comprehensive community-based approach to policing and public safety.
With Catalyst Grant funding, UnBoxed will work with the task force to launch a public safety dashboard that UnBoxed will use to advocate for policy and budget proposals for Denver that invest in community-based accountability policies to increase public safety and community well-being. UnBoxed will meet with neighborhood associations and facilitate community engagement forums to develop policy recommendations rooted in the community’s public safety priorities and ideas for community-based accountability strategies. It will collect and analyze citywide public safety data and consult with subject-matter experts to identify research-based solutions. UnBoxed will use its public safety dashboard to report findings and make public policy recommendations.
