  • The Annual Survey of Refugees (ASR) is a study that examines how recently resettled refugees are adapting to life in the US. Each year, 1,500 refugee households that have resettled within the past five years participate in telephone interviews in up to 20 languages.

Funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and conducted by the Urban Institute and SSRS, the survey collects data on refugee self-sufficiency and integration and covers factors that shape resettlement experiences, such as prearrival circumstances, social connection, and health.

The information collected in the ASR fulfills ORR’s mandatory Congressional reporting requirements and helps the office make programmatic and policy decisions.

This site provides data and analysis for researchers, practitioners, refugees, and government stakeholders.

Please visit ORR’s ASR page for more information on the ASR and its purpose.
