The US Senate unanimously passed the No Tax on Tips Act. Speaking with KCBS Radio, Joseph Rosenberg, a tax expert at the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, said the bipartisan support shows a general understanding that tipped employees are struggling with the high cost of living. Rosenberg says although details are pending, few tipped workers would ultimately benefit from the deduction “simply because they do not currently earn enough income to pay the federal income tax on it.”
