Enhanced premium tax credits (PTCs) have made health care affordable for low- and middle-income enrollees nationwide, but without congressional action, they’re set to expire at the end of the year. Speaking with the Associated Press, Jason Levitis, a health policy expert and senior fellow at the Urban Institute, said, “If you have less subsidies for people getting health insurance, you’re going to have less health coverage and less health care,” leading to more-serious illnesses and higher mortality rates.
