The One Big Beautiful Bill Act includes a new tax deduction for Americans ages 65 and older, but the benefits will vary based on their income and filing status. Howard Gleckman, a senior fellow for the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, told The Washington Post the deduction mainly benefits middle- and upper-middle-income filers. “Rich people don’t get it, and it doesn’t do any good for lower-income people because they already make less than the standard deduction, before the new senior bonus,” he said.
