Upcoming Event :: BUILDING COMMUNITY COLLEGES FOR THE FUTURE - PART 3 OF EVENT SERIES

Investing in Community College Students’ Advancement along a Career Pathway

Please join the Urban Institute for the second installment of our community college event series, focused on short-term credentials. Community colleges award both degrees (associate’s and sometimes bachelor’s) and certificates that take varying lengths of time to complete. Short-term certificates can help students earn credentials and complete initial steps for longer programs of study more quickly, support persistence in and completion of a career pathway, and build connections to employment. But not all short-term certificates are created equal and some are not valued by employers. This panel will explore the value of short-term certificates offered by community colleges and how colleges can ensure certificates are recognized and valued by employers.
