Join the Urban Institute and the American Enterprise Institute for the launch of the Commission on Artificial Intelligence and the Future of the American Workforce, a new body bringing together leaders from business, labor, academia, and government to build an actionable framework addressing the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the future of work. Commission cochairs former Commerce Secretary and former Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan will provide remarks that will shape a conversation around AI and its emergence as a transformative technology that will reshape how organizations operate and how work gets done.
Although AI promises significant gains in productivity and growth, its effect on jobs and opportunity remain uncertain. As AI becomes more embedded in the workplace, this uncertainty calls for policies that help workers adapt and thrive across a diverse range of industries.
The 12-month commission will assess how AI is reshaping jobs, skills, and earnings and develop policy options to help workers, employers, and government adapt. Rather than assuming a single trajectory, the commission will plan for a range of potential futures—developing policy recommendations tied to emerging evidence about where the labor market is headed.
