William Adams is a principal research associate in the Justice Policy Center at the Urban Institute, where he conducts research on the federal criminal justice system, federal sentencing and corrections, crimes in Indian country, and human trafficking. His areas of expertise include criminal justice policy, justice statistics, the federal justice system, federal sentencing, and corrections.

At Urban, Adams directs projects focused on federal justice statistics and the analysis of federal case data to address special topics in federal justice for the US Department of Justice. He has constructed statistical projection models for both juvenile and adult correctional populations.
