Tianna Newton, a policy coordinator in the Urban Institute’s Office of Race and Equity Research, is committed to equity-based policymaking. Before joining Urban, she was an associate at a policy organization, where she developed state and local policy recommendations for communities across Ohio’s Appalachian region. In that role, she spearheaded research initiatives, managed multiple projects, provided crucial support to other teams, produced essential project documents, skillfully edited internal and external communications, and organized critical policy and communications strategies tailored to client needs.
Newton’s dedication to evidence-based policies for historically marginalized communities is evident through her academic and professional journey. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Ohio University.
