Tanaya Srini is a research assistant in the Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center at the Urban Institute. She works on place-based research projects focusing on several domestic and international issues, including school closures, resilience planning, and public housing service delivery models. Since joining Urban, she has been involved with projects for the DC Promise Neighborhood Initiative, DC Housing Authority, and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. She previously interned as a researcher for the India Office of the Grameen Bank.
Srini earned her bachelor’s degree with high honors from Wesleyan University. She majored in the College of Social Studies and concentrated in international development and political theory. Her senior thesis explored the political and economic barriers to effective housing delivery in Cape Town’s largest townships.
