Sarah Trumble is the vice president of government affairs and counsel at the Urban Institute, where she oversees Urban’s work with federal, state, and local governments and policymakers and serves as legal counsel for the organization.

Before joining Urban, Trumble was the senior director of federal affairs at Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention organization, where she directed the federal strategy, congressional and administrative lobbying, and federal issue advocacy campaigns. Previously, she was the deputy director of social policy and politics at Third Way, where her portfolio spanned a wide range of issues, including criminal justice reform, immigration, abortion, guns, LGBTQ+ rights, and early childhood education. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and POLITICO

Trumble holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MPP and JD from the George Washington University.
