Sam Tecotzky is a research analyst in the Justice and Safety Division at the Urban Institute, where he works on research and policy projects focused on prison conditions, reentry, and employment and education opportunities for people who have been involved in the criminal legal system.

Before joining Urban, Tecotzky interned in the US Senate, and he has past research experience on issues of online data privacy protection and economic policy. Tecotzky has been a tutor for nearly a decade, and in college, he served on the board of Planned Parenthood Generation Action, advocating for reproductive justice.

Tecotzky holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Columbia University.
