Rudy Perez is a research associate for the Urban Institute’s Justice Policy Center, where he works on projects related to policing and community safety and case processing and decisionmaking. Before joining Urban, Rudy was a research coordinator with Rice University, conducting research on decisionmaking and behavior. He also worked with the University of Texas School of Public Health on projects related to policing and interventions for reducing homelessness and reincarceration amongst homeless adults in Dallas, Texas. While an undergraduate, he was involved in research investigating the effects cognitive bias and implicit bias on human decisionmaking. He graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with honors and completed his honors thesis on human reasoning and decisionmaking.
