Mara Pellittieri is director of writing at the Urban Institute, where she works with a team of writers to adapt Urban’s research for a variety of audiences. Before joining Urban, Pellittieri was the editor in chief of TalkPoverty.org, the online strategy manager at the Center for American Progress, and a digital strategist for the Legal Services Corporation. She started her career as a teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools.

Pellittieri holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Johns Hopkins University.
