Jasmin Ward Carey is a senior director of development, foundation relations at the Urban Institute, where she serves as a key partner in Urban’s continued transformation of fundraising for the organization. Jasmin collaborates with a diverse group of researchers, policy analysts, and technical experts to articulate value propositions for current and prospective institutional donors; supports the development of multi-million-dollar initiatives aligned with Urban’s strategic priorities; and serves as an ambassador for the Institute’s research and reputation, establishing and sustaining relationship with high-level institutional staff to advance fundraising goals.
Before joining Urban, she served as Share Our Strength’s first director of foundation relations, where she developed a robust foundations program from the ground up and was an active member on their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee while leading their LGBTQIA affinity group. Leading up to her time at Share Our Strength, Jasmin served as the primary foundations fundraiser at national think tanks: the Bipartisan Policy Center and the Truman National Security Project.
With 13 years of fundraising experience, Jasmin has worked with local and national nonprofit organizations to raise funds to sustain and build new programming, raise their profile, and effectively communicate their mission and vision. Whether working on issues such as environmental preservation, homelessness prevention, sustainable energy solutions, child hunger, or evidence-based policy for think tanks in Washington, DC, Jasmin has dedicated her career to advocating for underserved communities, protecting our planet, and combating inequities.
Jasmin received a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from University of Maryland, College Park.
