Courtney Jones is director of policy management in the Urban Institute’s Research to Action Lab. She coordinates research and strategy on housing policy and programs across Urban and partners with researchers to implement programs in community development, workforce development, and financial capacity.
Before joining Urban, Jones served in the Obama administration at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development as special adviser to the assistant secretary for policy development and research. Previously, Jones was a graduate fellow with the Center for Economic Opportunity, which pilots and advances antipoverty efforts in the Office of the Mayor in New York City. At the Food Research and Action Center, she collaborated on strategic planning and grant writing to support antihunger policy, advocacy, and technical assistance. Jones started her career as a strategic consultant to nonprofit organizations at Orr Associates Inc.
A graduate of American University, Jones has a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in policy from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.
