Clara Alvarez Caraveo is research analyst in the Health Policy Division at the Urban Institute, studying the effects of Medicaid expansion as a result of the Affordable Care Act on maternal health and coverage trends among vulnerable populations. She uses quantitative analysis to understand underlying trends in health and health insurance coverage to inform policy recommendations.

Alvarez Caraveo has a BA in sociology with minors in policy analysis and management, demography, and inequality studies from Cornell University.
