Technological occupations are growing in IT, health care, advanced manufacturing, and other sectors. Registered apprenticeships can ensure employers and employees benefit from that growth.

Tech apprenticeships can help employers fill job openings with local talent, diversify the workforce, reduce recruitment costs, and improve retention. They can also create opportunities for employees to learn and produce high-quality work while earning wages and developing rewarding careers.

The Urban Institute and its partners support employers nationwide in expanding registered tech apprenticeships. From June 2019 to June 2022, with support from the US Department of Labor, we are committed to helping start more than 1,700 new registered apprenticeships in the tech field.
