LGBTQ+ people and criminal justice
LGBTQ+ people experience disproportionate rates of victimization, criminalization, and incarceration rooted in a history of overpolicing and discrimination. Urban examines LGBTQ+ people’s pathways to and through the criminal legal system, including how race and social class affect their experiences. Our experts also analyze the unique needs of incarcerated LGBTQ+ people and recommend necessary supports upon reentry to their communities.
