This chart presents a summary of 1999 state and national estimates compared to 1997 state and national estimates for measures included in the report, Snapshots of America's Families II (October 2000). These findings are from the National Survey of America's Families, a survey of more than 42,000 households with and without telephones that are representative of the nation as a whole and of 13 states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.
