Mothers with few economic resources face the ongoing stress of making ends meet while addressing their children’s needs. This fact sheet highlights how these mothers are often resourceful in bringing together both formal and informal supports to address challenges in their lives. Although mothers use many positive coping mechanisms, they need additional support from government programs and from community-based organizations. These insights draw from a report on the coping strategies of mothers with low incomes.
