Pam Loprest submitted testimony to the New York City Council committee on automatic benefits, drawing on her research on Work Support Strategies (WSS) that focused on improving the well-being of working families while improving program efficiency through improving access to benefits. The testimony makes the point that receiving benefits improves well-being, many people who are eligible for benefits are not receiving them, many places can reach eligible people through information they’ve given to receive other public benefits, and that reducing application burdens for families can increase access.
