The physical conditions of a community determine people’s health, social, and economic wellbeing. However, these outcomes are not experienced equitably across places and populations. Urban examines how the unequal effects of climate change impact both natural environments as well as built environments, from substandard housing to disaster-damaged neighborhoods. Policymakers and funders concerned with disparities in people’s access to positive environmental amenities and exposure to harmful environmental pollutants turn to Urban’s research work to inform their decisionmaking.
