PROJECTEffects of Selected Health Provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act

Congress is now considering passage of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 through budget reconciliation. The legislation has several provisions that would affect health care:

  • extension of the enhanced premium tax credits (PTCs) originally included in the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and scheduled to expire after 2022
  • negotiation for some drugs covered by Medicare
  • rebates for drug prices that increase faster than inflation
  • changes to the Medicare Part D plan that include a $2,000 out-of-pocket cap

Below is a list of our existing work that analyzes the effects of selected provisions, including changes in overall coverage and spending and details about affected groups.
