Through rigorous, data-based analysis, researchers and analysts can further our understanding of societal shortcomings and point toward evidence-based solutions. But carelessly collecting and communicating data can lead to data visualizations with an outsized capacity to mislead, misrepresent, and harm people or communities that already experience inequity and discrimination.

The Do No Harm Guide body of work consists of several guides for how researchers and analysts can approach their work through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. These guides aim to encourage thoughtfulness in how analysts work with and present their data rather than prescribing what to do or not do.
