As a way to keep MSC members informed, the Housing Finance Policy Center hosts a regular briefing on the fourth Thursday of each month at 2pm ET. 16 MSC members participated in the first monthly briefing of the year and heard about the release of the first two research briefs:
- Setting the Stage for Mortgage Reforms
- Government Loan Modifications: What Happens When Interest Rates Rise?
Reaction was positive from MSC members on both briefs. HFPC staff continues to finalize a third brief focused on reforming the FHA conveyance and foreclosure processes. HFPC also briefed members on event recently hosted in conjunction with the Terner Center on Housing Innovation focused on ways in which FHA can meet the future needs of housing. You can view the event here. Members also heard from HFPC staff on the beginning framework for the MSC’s next workstream: aligning mortgage servicing standards and structural reforms with mortgage servicing. The next MSC briefing will be held on February 22 at 2pm ET.
