  • Washington, DC

Measure4Change was founded in Washington, DC, in 2014 in collaboration with the World Bank Group.

Through our vibrant community of practice, the Urban Institute has delivered content to more than 40 local nonprofits on such topics as data visualization, survey design, and building an organizational culture of continuous improvement. In addition, Urban has provided direct technical assistance to 12 high-performing organizations. These nonprofits have developed new tools and procedures, strengthened the legitimacy of the performance measurement function internally, and enhanced credibility with local funders. The program is now guided by a nonprofit-led advisory council, which includes members of the community of practice.

    Baltimore

In 2017, the Annie E. Casey Foundation partnered with the Urban Institute to begin Measure4Change Baltimore. Urban provides group-based curriculum trainings and one-on-one technical assistance to five of the Casey Foundation’s workforce development and economic inclusion grantees. Through this partnership, the Baltimore training cohorts use performance management principles to measure their progress in achieving racial equity and inclusion within their organizations and programming.
