When Urban Institute published the “Assessment of American Indian Housing Needs and Programs” in 1996, the Department of Housing and Urban Development called it “the most comprehensive and authoritative body of information ever assembled on housing conditions and resources in Native American communities.” Today, we partner with Native American organizations to strengthen tribal communities’ ability to conduct research and produce definitive reports on federal programs designed to meet their needs.
