The Charles Colson Task Force on Federal Corrections was a nine-person, bipartisan, blue-ribbon task force created by Congress to examine challenges in the federal corrections system and develop practical, data-driven solutions. The Task Force met throughout 2015 to conduct its work and presented findings and recommendations to Congress, the Department of Justice, and the President in January 2016.
The Urban Institute and its partner, the Center for Effective Public Policy, provided research, analysis, strategic guidance, and logistical support to the Task Force through a cooperative agreement with the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, US Department of Justice.
