John Yinger is a visiting fellow in the Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center at the Urban Institute. He is a trustee professor of economics and public administration at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and director of the Education Finance and Accountability Program in Maxwell’s Center for Policy Research. His research focuses on education finance, household sorting in housing markets, and discrimination in housing and lending. Before coming to Syracuse, Yinger taught at Harvard University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Wisconsin and was a senior staff economist in the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. He received his PhD in economics from Princeton University.
