Ianna Kachoris, a visiting fellow in the Research to Action Lab at the Urban Institute, is senior program officer with the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. She oversees the foundation’s multiyear, $25 million How Housing Matters to Families and Communities research initiative.
Before joining the MacArthur Foundation, Kachoris led The Pew Charitable Trusts’ Economic Mobility Project, where she oversaw the project’s research agenda and engagement strategy and forged consensus among the project’s ideologically diverse principals on a federal policy agenda to improve economic mobility. Kachoris has also been senior policy adviser to Senator Edward M. Kennedy, manager of Midwest regional initiatives for the Fannie Mae Foundation, and program evaluator with the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Kachoris has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Emory University and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago.
